Mabon- Autumn Equinox

Mabon- Autumn Equinox
March 21st

Mabon is also known as Autumn Equinox; it is the 2nd Sabbat in the Southern Hemisphere. This Sabbat falls on the 21st of March. Mabon symbolises equal amounts of day and night, light and dark, and equal balance.
Mabon is known as the witches thanksgiving; with that said it is the time where we prepare and begin our 2nd harvest of the year.
This is also the perfect time to call in protection from the deities; for them to watch over us as light turns into darkness throughout the sabbat.
Mabon is the sabbat of self-care, so its time to show yourself some and spend some time doing something you love. Mabon is also strongly connected to our masculine; this gives us strength to work through things that have set us back in the past. Connecting with our divine masculine at this time is also good if you are planning on doing some shadow work as well.

Each Sabbat has Gods and Goddesses that support us through and that we can give offerings to. I have listed a few that you can call in while doing your ritual work and setting up your altar.
Mabon deities- Demeter, The Morrigan, Persephone, Thor & Hermes. Also, remember Mabon is a harvest season, so harvest Gods and Goddesses can be called in to.

Below I have put together a list of items that can be used for ritual work for Mabon

Colour- Burgundy, Dark Red, Brown & Green

Herbs & Plants- Rue, Hyssop, Sage, Yarrow, Marigold, Cedarwood & Chrysanthemum

Food- Pomegranate, Nuts, Root Vegetables & Bread

Crystals- Orange Calcite, Onyx, Lapis Lazuli & Carnelian

Animals-  Stag, Goose & Swan

Incense- Pine, Benzoin & Sage

"As night & day become equal again
I take this time for self-care & dive into my self-worth
I call in harmony & balance
I give thanks for the protection given to me during this sabbat"
